Black Walnut Keepsake Box

This handcrafted keepsake box is made in my small one-man shop in Wisconsin. The beautiful black walnut and curly maple used in its construction are sourced locally from Wisconsin, Minnesota, or Iowa. The mitered corners are reinforced with maple miter splines, ensuring the box lasts a lifetime while also providing a contrasting aesthetic that distinguishes it from mass-produced options.

The solid brass quadrant hinges support the lid exceptionally well, both when open and closed, and they enhance the overall beauty of the box. Similarly, the brass ball clasp keeps the box securely closed and looks fantastic. Inside, the curly maple lining and felt-lined bottom ensure that the interior is just as attractive as the exterior.

The finish is hand-applied oil and wax, which naturally highlights the beauty of the wood without filling the grain with a heavy coating.

The inside dimensions of the box are 8-1/2 inches by 6 inches by 3 inches, and the lid has a depth of 1 inch.

All of my products are handcrafted by me using traditional woodworking tools, including table saws, routers, and chisels. I do not use any computer-controlled equipment, and all finishes are applied by hand.
